Project Management Professional

PMI · advanced · 230 minutes, with two optional ten-minute breaks

In developmentThis course is still being brought to our full standard. The questions and notes are usable, but they have not yet been checked line by line against the vendor’s own training.

The project credential IT job adverts name most: servant leadership and team development, stakeholders and communication, predictive and adaptive delivery with scope, schedule, earned value, risk, quality and change control, and the business environment the project answers to.

What you get

3full papers of 180
5course chapters · 27 minutes

Two sample questions

Two of the 540, with the answer and the explanation.

1. What does a business case establish before a project is approved?

  1. How the work will be scheduled
  2. Why the investment is worth making — correct
  3. Who will staff the team
  4. Which supplier will be used

Why: It sets out the expected benefit against the cost and risk, which is what an approval decision rests on.

2. The sponsor wants weekly status and the steering group wants a monthly summary. Where should that be recorded?

  1. In the communications management plan — correct
  2. In the project's stakeholder register
  3. In the project charter signed at initiation
  4. In the issue log maintained by the team

Why: The communications management plan records who needs which information, in what form, how often, and from whom. The register records the stakeholders themselves, and the charter authorises the project and its manager.
