1. What does an arbiter contribute to a replica set?
- A copy of the data without the ability to vote
- A delayed copy of the data for recovery
- A hidden copy used for reporting queries
- A vote in elections, without holding any data — correct
Why: It makes a two-data-member set able to elect, at the cost of having no third copy of the data.
2. What does the $exists operator test?
- Whether the field has any value at all
- Whether the collection contains such documents
- Whether the field is present in the document — correct
- Whether the field has a non-null value
Why: Presence and value are separate, so a field explicitly set to null exists. Flexible schemas make the distinction a routine part of writing queries.
