LFCS practice examsIn development
Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator
Performance-based Linux administration across distributions: the shell, text processing and scripting, users, permissions and hardening, networking and systemd services, and storage with LVM, filesystems and the maintenance that keeps a system healthy.
What you get
Papers are cut from the bank and weighted like the real exam, and no question appears in two of them. Every wrong answer comes back on later days until you have it right.
What the exam covers
| Operations deployment and essential commands | Not published |
| Users, groups, permissions and system security | Not published |
| Networking and service configuration | Not published |
| Storage management and system maintenance | Not published |
Two sample questions
1. Why might key-based SSH login fail despite the key being in authorized_keys?
- The key was generated on a different distribution
- The server has PasswordAuthentication still enabled
- The client has not added the host to known_hosts
- The home or .ssh directory permissions are too permissive — correct
Why: sshd refuses to trust a key file that others could have written, and the failure is silent unless you read the log.
2. What does useradd do?
- Creates a new user account — correct
- Deletes an existing account
- Changes a user's password
- Lists the group memberships
Why: useradd creates a new user account according to defaults and the options given.
