ISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst
The advanced track for functional and exploratory specialists: what the analyst contributes at each stage of the process and why reviewing the test basis is where defects are cheapest, risk deciding both what is tested and what is dropped, choosing the technique from the shape of the requirement, defect taxonomies and session-based exploration; then the business-facing quality characteristics with appropriateness distinguished from correctness, usability and accessibility with real users, review checklists, actionable defect reports, and the tools an analyst actually uses.
What you get
Papers are cut from the bank and weighted like the real exam, and no question appears in two of them. Every wrong answer comes back on later days until you have it right.

| Quality characteristics, reviews, defects and tools | Not published |
Two sample questions
1. Why does a confirmed fix still require regression testing?
- Confirmation testing cannot be automated
- The original test may no longer be valid
- Regression testing measures the coverage
- A fix can break behaviour elsewhere — correct
Why: Fixing one defect can break something else, so regression testing checks that the change did not damage previously working behaviour, which confirmation of the fix alone does not.
2. Why does the analyst combine dynamic testing with participation in reviews?
- Reviews and tests apply the same coverage criteria
- Reviews are cheaper so they replace testing
- Dynamic testing cannot find requirement defects
- Reviews catch work product faults, tests catch runtime ones — correct
Why: Static reviews find defects in documents and designs before execution, while dynamic testing finds those in the running system, so combining them covers defects neither would catch alone.
