CTFL v4.0 practice examsIn development
ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level
Software testing as a discipline: the vocabulary the exam is built on, the seven principles, the levels and types, static review, the design techniques, and how testing is planned, risk-based and reported.
What you get
Papers are cut from the bank and weighted like the real exam, and no question appears in two of them. Every wrong answer comes back on later days until you have it right.
What the exam covers
| Fundamentals of testing and the lifecycle | ~35% |
| Static testing and test analysis and design | ~37% |
| Managing the test activities and test tools | ~28% |
Two sample questions
1. What is statement coverage?
- The proportion of decisions exercised
- The proportion of paths exercised
- The proportion of statements exercised — correct
- The proportion of the requirements covered
Why: Statement coverage measures which executable statements the tests exercise, a white-box measure of how thoroughly the code has been run.
2. What is the purpose of tracking test coverage?
- How many defects remain in the product
- How long the execution actually took
- How well the requirements were written
- How much of the basis was exercised — correct
Why: Coverage tracking shows how thoroughly the basis or code has been tested, which informs confidence in the results and where gaps remain.
