ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level - Agile Tester

ISTQB · beginner · 60 minutes, extended for non-native speakers

In developmentThis course is still being brought to our full standard. The questions and notes are usable, but they have not yet been checked line by line against the vendor’s own training.

Testing in an agile team: the manifesto and whole-team responsibility for quality, how testing differs with the pyramid, quadrants and continuous regression risk, and the methods, techniques and tooling from TDD and ATDD through exploratory charters to continuous integration.

Two sample questions

Two of the 139, with the answer and the explanation.

1. Why does the tester pair with a developer during development of a story?

  1. The tester can approve the developer's code
  2. Pairing removes the need for a review
  3. Two people write the tests twice over
  4. Shared understanding and instant feedback — correct

Why: Pairing lets the tester and developer share understanding and address testability and edge cases as the code is written, building quality in rather than inspecting it later.

2. What is the value of a quick local test run before pushing a change?

  1. Obvious breakage stays out of the pipeline — correct
  2. The local run replaces the pipeline run
  3. Local runs use a cheaper licence
  4. Local results are more reliable

Why: Running relevant tests locally before pushing catches obvious breakage early, so the shared pipeline and the rest of the team are not disrupted by an avoidable failure.
