GitHub Foundations practice examsIn development
GitHub Foundations
How software is actually worked on: Git and what distributed means, repositories and branches, issues and pull requests and review, Actions, the four security features, and how permissions are organised.
What you get
Papers are cut from the bank and weighted like the real exam, and no question appears in two of them. Every wrong answer comes back on later days until you have it right.
What the exam covers
| Introduction to Git and GitHub, and working with repositories | 30% |
| Collaboration features and project management | 37% |
| Modern development, security and administration | 33% |
Two sample questions
1. What is the base permission setting for an organisation?
- The access granted to collaborators from outside the org
- The permission a team inherits from the team above it
- The scope a personal access token may be given by default
- The default access every member has to its repositories — correct
Why: Base permission establishes the floor for members, and team membership can grant more. Setting it low means access is deliberate rather than automatic.
2. What does a review on a PR provide?
- Feedback and approval — correct
- A new branch
- A new runner
- A new label in practice
Why: Reviews give feedback and can approve changes.
