GitHub Advanced Security practice examsIn development
GitHub Advanced Security
Application security inside the developer workflow: secret scanning with push protection, CodeQL static analysis with taint tracking and custom queries, supply chain security with Dependabot and dependency review, and rolling the programme out across an organisation.
What you get
Papers are cut from the bank and weighted like the real exam, and no question appears in two of them. Every wrong answer comes back on later days until you have it right.
What the exam covers
| Secret scanning and push protection | Not published |
| Code scanning with CodeQL | Not published |
| Supply chain security | Not published |
| Programme rollout, reporting and administration | Not published |
Two sample questions
1. What does the security overview provide to an organisation?
- The alerts raised on a single repository across all of its branches
- A record of the administrative events that changed a security setting
- Aggregated alert and enablement data showing coverage and concentration — correct
- The dependency changes that each open pull request would introduce
Why: The overview answers where the organisation stands: which repositories have features enabled and where the findings are. It is the programme-level view rather than the per-alert one.
2. What does a sink represent?
- A repo licence file
- A safe log call
- A sensitive operation — correct
- A git tag under normal use
Why: Sinks are dangerous operations data can reach.
