D-PST-DY-A practice examsIn development
Dell Technologies Certified Specialist - Implementation Engineer, PowerStore
The Dell midrange array behind a large European install base: appliances of two active nodes forming a cluster, the resiliency engine that removes RAID groups, always-on data reduction and what it does to capacity planning, volumes, volume groups and thin clones, then initial configuration, protection policies, the migration paths a replacement project depends on, and non-disruptive upgrades with CloudIQ above them.
What you get
Papers are cut from the bank and weighted like the real exam, and no question appears in two of them. Every wrong answer comes back on later days until you have it right.
What the exam covers
| Architecture, storage objects and host access | Not published |
| Implementation, protection, migration and operations | Not published |
Two sample questions
1. Which risk follows from retaining very many snapshots?
- The protection level applied to the volume is reduced
- Capacity consumption grows as the volume diverges from them — correct
- The replication relationship for that volume begins to fall behind
- The deduplication ratio for the volume falls sharply
Why: Each snapshot retains the blocks the live volume has since changed, so consumption grows over time.
2. What does a thin clone share with its source?
- The blocks that have not been changed since — correct
- The host mappings the source volume has
- The protection policy applied to the source volume
- The performance policy limiting the source
Why: Only divergence consumes capacity, which is what makes clones cheap for test copies. Mappings and policies are set on the clone in its own right.
