D-ISM-FN-01 practice examsIn development
Dell Technologies Certified Associate - Information Storage and Management
Storage from the ground up and mostly vendor-neutral: what a data centre has to be, drives and RAID and the write penalty, block against file against object, the storage fabric, backup against archive against replication, and why a backup an attacker can delete is not a recovery capability.
What you get
Papers are cut from the bank and weighted like the real exam, and no question appears in two of them. Every wrong answer comes back on later days until you have it right.
What the exam covers
| Modern data centre infrastructure | Not published |
| Storage systems: block, file, object and unified | Not published |
| Storage networking technologies | Not published |
| Backup, archive and replication | Not published |
| Security and management of storage infrastructure | Not published |
Two sample questions
1. Which operation creates a point-in-time copy for later recovery?
- A firewall rule
- A zoning change
- A backup — correct
- A LUN mask
Why: A backup creates a copy of data at a point in time from which it can later be restored.
2. What distinguishes RAID 6 from RAID 5?
- It uses two parity blocks, tolerating two failures — correct
- It removes parity entirely to gain more speed
- It mirrors every block onto a second drive
- It can only be built from mechanical drives
Why: RAID 6 adds a second parity block, so it can survive two simultaneous drive failures where RAID 5 survives one.
