Databricks Certified Machine Learning Associate

Databricks · intermediate · 90 minutes

In developmentThis course is still being brought to our full standard. The questions and notes are usable, but they have not yet been checked line by line against the vendor’s own training.

Machine learning on Databricks: preparing data on Delta with leakage as the primary hazard, the Feature Store preventing training-serving skew, MLflow tracking and the registry, scaling training three different ways, and deploying by batch, stream or endpoint with drift monitoring.

What you get

154practice questions
3full papers of 48
11course chapters · 70 minutes
100%answers explained

Papers are cut from the bank and weighted like the real exam, and no question appears in two of them. Every wrong answer comes back on later days until you have it right.

Two sample questions

Two of the 154, with the answer and the explanation.

1. Which is a benefit of registering a model rather than referring to a run?

  1. A run identifier is more stable across workspaces than a version
  2. Registration blocks the version from ever being deployed to a serving endpoint
  3. Consumers reference a stable name and version rather than a run identifier — correct
  4. The name of a run is enough for a downstream consumer to load it

Why: A registered model gives a stable name and version that downstream consumers can reference.

2. A categorical column has fifty thousand distinct values. Which encoding is most appropriate?

  1. Target or hashing encoding, because one-hot would explode the width — correct
  2. One-hot encoding, because it avoids implying any ordering
  3. Ordinal encoding, because the model can learn the ordering
  4. No encoding, because tree models handle strings directly

Why: One-hot encoding a high-cardinality column produces tens of thousands of sparse columns and usually overfits. Target encoding or hashing keep the width manageable, at the cost of leakage risk and collisions respectively.
