CCAAK practice examsIn development

Confluent Certified Administrator for Apache Kafka

Confluent · advanced · 90 minutes

In developmentThis course is still being brought to our full standard. The questions and notes are usable, but they have not yet been checked line by line against the vendor’s own training.

Running Kafka rather than writing against it: brokers with metadata held by a controller quorum, partitions as the unit of ordering and parallelism with a count that can only increase, replication where durability needs the producer and broker settings together, retention independent of consumption, then producers and consumer groups with idle members beyond the partition count, the delivery semantics offsets actually give, the three security layers, and the reassignment and rolling restart discipline operations depends on.

What you get

167practice questions

Papers are cut from the bank and weighted like the real exam, and no question appears in two of them. Every wrong answer comes back on later days until you have it right.

Two sample questions

Two of the 167, with the answer and the explanation.

1. Which is a benefit of producer compression such as lz4 or snappy?

  1. Less network and disk use for the same data — correct
  2. Higher network use
  3. Loss of records
  4. Fewer partitions

Why: Compression reduces the bytes sent over the network and stored on disk for the same records.

2. What happens when a topic's partition count is increased?

  1. The topic's replication factor is increased as well
  2. Consumers in the group must all be restarted first
  3. Existing keys may map to a different partition — correct
  4. Existing records are redistributed across partitions

Why: Hashing is over the new partition count, so the ordering guarantee for a key is broken at the point of the change. That is why the count is planned rather than adjusted casually.
