CGOA practice examsUpdate in progress
Certified GitOps Associate
The vendor-neutral GitOps credential: the four principles and why only declarative state can be reconciled, the loop that reverts a manual change by design, fields that must be ignored where another controller owns them, and repository design separating source from deployment configuration; then Argo CD and Flux as pull-based agents with sync and health reported separately, the three answers to secrets, progressive delivery limiting blast radius, and alerting on a silently failed sync.
What you get
Papers are cut from the bank and weighted like the real exam, and no question appears in two of them. Every wrong answer comes back on later days until you have it right.
What the exam covers
| GitOps Terminology | 20% |
| GitOps Principles | 30% |
| Related Practices | 16% |
| GitOps Patterns | 20% |
| Tooling | 14% |
Two sample questions
1. Which is a benefit of RBAC on the Git repository and cluster?
- Reducing the reconciliation interval
- Controlling who can change what — correct
- Removing the need for signed commits
- Allowing the controller to run unprivileged
Why: RBAC on the repository and cluster controls who can change what.
2. What does an Argo CD application track separately?
- Sync status and health status — correct
- The image and its content digest
- The branch and the image tag
- The base and the overlay
Why: Sync says whether the cluster matches Git, and health says whether the resources are working. A synced app can still be unhealthy.
