Cisco Certified Support Technician - Networking

Cisco · beginner · 50 minutes

In developmentThis course is still being brought to our full standard. The questions and notes are usable, but they have not yet been checked line by line against the vendor’s own training.

Networking from the ground up: the OSI and TCP/IP models with encapsulation, IPv4 subnetting arithmetic and IPv6, cabling, wireless and the devices that make a network, VLANs, and a structured troubleshooting method with the security controls a technician applies.

What you get

152practice questions
3full papers of 50
4course chapters · 24 minutes
100%answers explained

Papers are cut from the bank and weighted like the real exam, and no question appears in two of them. Every wrong answer comes back on later days until you have it right.

Two sample questions

Two of the 152, with the answer and the explanation.

1. Which cable type carries most modern wired Ethernet with RJ45 connectors?

  1. Coaxial only
  2. Twisted pair (e.g. Cat 6) — correct
  3. Fibre with RJ11
  4. PS/2 cable

Why: Twisted pair cabling such as Cat 6 with RJ45 connectors carries most modern wired Ethernet.

2. What is the protocol data unit at the transport layer called?

  1. A segment — correct
  2. A packet, once the network header is added
  3. A frame, once the switch forwards it
  4. A stream of bits placed on the wire

Why: Encapsulation names the unit at each layer: segment at transport, packet at network, frame at data link, bits on the medium. Knowing which name belongs where is what lets a fault be described at the right layer.
