CAPA practice examsUpdate in progress

Certified Argo Project Associate

CNCF / Linux Foundation · intermediate · 90 minutes

Update in progressCNCF / Linux Foundation now publishes this exam as Certified Argo Project Associate, four domains, one per Argo project; our bank was written for CAPA as two broad domains with the exam-version excuse, checked on 21 September 2026. The questions still teach the subject, but the split per domain has moved.

The four Argo projects and what each is for: Argo CD applications with sync and health reported separately and automation, self-heal and prune as distinct settings, Rollouts adding canary and blue-green with analysis-driven rollback, and Projects constraining a shared instance; then Workflows running container graphs with artifacts and templates, Events flowing from source through bus to sensor and trigger, the boundary that Workflows performs work while Argo CD owns state, and the operational settings that keep an estate from accumulating.

Two sample questions

Two of the 180, with the answer and the explanation.

1. Which is a benefit of parameterising workflows?

  1. Each step gets its own isolated container image
  2. Failed steps are retried without side effects
  3. One workflow can be reused with different inputs — correct
  4. Finished workflows are cleaned up automatically

Why: Parameterising workflows lets one definition be reused with different inputs.

2. What does an Argo Workflow container template run?

  1. A single container as a step — correct
  2. A whole application deployment
  3. An event source
  4. An analysis template

Why: A container template executes one container, and steps or a DAG compose many. It is the basic unit of a workflow.
